flown in to help nest.

This sweet little chickadee would make a sweet little baby gift. When Lily was a baby I had a big branch as her curtain rod. He could have sat right there and had his bird's eye view.

from here...along with other colors

It seems the aqua fix continued today.

glamour and pamper

The other day I showed a photo that included my glass and sterling cheese shaker. I like to use items for something other than their initial purpose. Pair the cheese shaker with a favorite body powder and you have just put together an elegant spa-like gift for a friend who deserves some glamour and pamper. Or maybe it is the gift that becomes the most sophisticated item on the baby changing table. You can always give it the way it was intended, too. I don't know any household that doesn't use magic* cheese. Either way, how can you go wrong with a gift that can go from the dinner table to the bathroom so efficiently?

*magic cheese - otherwise known as parmesan cheese. Too many years ago, as a toddler, my nephew started calling it magic cheese since it disappears on your food.

The red cross

I have always had a thing for the first aid symbol. Maybe it is the many years of life guarding. There is a sense of comfort connected to that symbol. I like the idea of good design mixed with practical when it comes to giving these days. Therefore, this idea was almost too easy. Fill the box with all the essentials. It works for a new home, but a less obvious idea would be to give it to the friend who just found out she's pregnant.
& for the tag.......for all the boo boos.
Since it's red, I figured it could be a part of Valentine's week. Available here.

What is the use of a book without pictures or conversations?

I could post about a book every day as inspiration for a gift, but there is nothing like a classic that has illustrations that bring a warmth of familiarity along with an excitingly new sense of humor.

& for the tag...Shouldn't every day be a wonderland?

Available here.

you, too, can be immortalized

While we are on the subject of baby gifts, I wanted to introduce you to a gift that has staying power. When they are a baby, it looks like personalized art on the shelf. When they are old enough to play with them, they are one of the cutest well designed toys in the house. When they are past playing with them, it goes back on the shelf or even graduates to the mantle. I love the concept behind this gift. It takes an old favorite and vastly improves on it by adding some timelessness, personalized design, and environmental friendliness. A custom tailored family by goosegrease is such a welcome departure from plastic toys.

put on the gift tag......."Everyone knows having a baby immortalizes you."

sleep like a baby

Here's the scenario.....

Your friend or say maybe your sister-in-law is having a baby. You don't have children yet, so besides for a very cute little outfit, you just aren't sure what to get. With the new discoveries of unsafe plastics, baby bottles from the green to grow line are a welcome safe alternative. I'm always a fan of an item that not only solves a problem in a responsible way, but is cute to boot. You could even include a baby blanket and since the bottles are bisphenol A-free, phthalate-free, and worry free you could borrow their line for the gift tag......"Now the whole family can sleep like a baby."

Time in a bottle

I don't usually post about a gift idea that I've seen in a few other places in the blog world, however, this idea deserves another mention. It has all the makings of a great gift. It is a simple idea with meaning and thought written all over it.
Keep a jar in a handy place and every time your kids say something funny or clever, write it down and throw it in the jar. Children say very funny things, but remembering those things is never as easy as you think it will be. This could be gathered secretly and given to Dad on his birthday or gift yourself by reading one on a day you could use a smile. Don't have kids, you could do this with any little funny moments you want to remember. You could even wrap up one of these with a stack of nice paper and give it to a new parent.

The Gift of Gab

Here it is Monday again already which means it is time for the gift of gab. Every Monday we feature a quote and then pair a gift with the quote. Inspiration for gifts can come from anywhere...quotes are just one of many ways to get inspired.

If I would have left off the author in that quote, everyone would have still known it was Dr. Seuss. His ability to create words and use his imagination in ways that no one can match has made me a life long fan. Dr. Seuss books are a great baby gift or even a young birthday gift. Tie a group of them together and put the quote on the tag. Be sure to sign the inside of the books and date them. You will have just given endless hours of entertainment.

Update: Welcome all Dr. Seuss lovers. Go here for a fun green eggs and ham post.

Tiny Tiara

Yesterday, I found out that one of our items is being discontinued....boo hoo. This tiny tiara is a very thoughtful baby gift, baptismal gift, and even birthday gift. I've said before that I always appreciate a gift that can start a tradition. If you give this as a baby gift, it can be used each year as a cake topper. Designed by Shelly Kennedy each ornamental crown has been reproduced by skilled glass craftsmen. Each piece is as unique as your princess and is fragile glass. Not a toy.
Available in blue, pink, and clear. Approximately 3 inches tall. We only have one of each color and we have marked them down to half price.

No Pea Required

It doesn't always take a pea and a stack of mattresses to recognize a princess. This tiara is handmade exclusively for us at sea and jae. It can be made in any colors. I know one little girl who wears hers every year for her birthday (and any day in between that she thinks she is a princess). In fact, that's how this item originated. It was such a loved birthday gift, that after a couple of years of birthdays, we knew we had something special. It would even make a fun gift for an "older" birthday princess. Who says the sparklers, cupcakes, and tiaras have to go away when you're not a little girl anymore? I also think it has just the right touch of sweetness and sentimentality to be a new baby girl gift. I like when gifts can start traditions and with this worn every year on her birthday, it does just that. Email me directly if you want more info. It's so new that it's not even listed on our site yet.
