Don't hate me. I don't like sunflowers. There I said it. I know so many people love them. They are big and cheery....what's not cheery about yellow....but, to me they are just a big weed. Too many summers pulling them out of the crop fields in Iowa where they didn't belong, I guess.
Flowers have and will always be a staple gift. They mark the day or occasion in a way that says, "I was thinking of you." However, it doesn't take much added effort to putting some thought into just what kind of flowers to give. There are all kinds of websites on the different meanings of types of flowers.....here. Sometimes it's as simple as selecting a flower you know they had at their wedding. Whatever flowers you choose, let them know why on the tag. Just like everything else, let the flowers tell a story. Extra thought goes a long way.
I do happen to love lilies. Not hard to figure out since my daughter is Lily. What kind do you love....or not...so much?

I'm not a big sunflower lover either...not on walls and such. I like to see them in person and think "how nice", but that's about it. I LOVE lilies too, and they smell so darn good!
ReplyDeleteI adore lilies. They are glamorous and over the top at the same time. I especially adore the smell of Casablanca lilies. I also really love sunflowers. Several years ago we took a summer road trip. We traveled through South Dakota and passed miles and miles of sunflower fields. Such beauty! I've been smitten ever since. The one flower I don't really like is a red rose. So ubiquitous. So uninspired. I adore pink or apricot roses. Just, please, no red.
