One of the "behind the scenes" things we do over at sea and jae is events. I showed you the custom invitation yesterday. Today I have put together some of the photos from that Dessert Party. The party was for a 7 year old's birthday who just happens to love desserts and sweets....imagine, that! It was given a playful, but elegant touch. There were over 600 butterflies on branches everywhere. That was magical. One of the highlights of the events for the girls, was the human pinata. The birthday girl has always wanted a pinata, but we don't like to do much the "easy" or "standard" way. So...we sewed A LOT of candies individually to the front and back of a white dress shirt and labeled him the human pinata. I'm not sure who had more fun with that....the girls pulling the candy, the human pinata, or everyone watching! On Monday, I'll show you the party favors...our specialty.

The Art of Dessert
The "sea" in sea and jae is an artist. She has that unique ability to turn the ordinary extraordinary with her artwork. One example of this is through her custom stationery. Take a look at the invitation she did for a recent event we put together. I'll post more on this event in days to come. Custom stationery not only personalizes your event, but definitely takes it up a notch. The address and RSVP line would go at the bottom.

It's a Blog Eat Blog World
Okay, so I've finally made the commitment to being a part of the blogging world and here it is, the beginning of yet another new blog. I decided it was time to take the leap and put that Journalism degree to work....well, sort of. I hope you enjoy it as I use it as a place to put in writing those endless ideas that swim around my head. I also want to use it as a place to show you some of the work we do over at sea and jae....kind of a behind the scenes look at what really goes on.
From the many, many wise words of Willy Wonka..."The suspense is terrible. I hope it'll last."

Me...
I’m a Midwest girl living in southeast Florida. I grew up in a small town in Iowa. We used to vacation in Florida fairly regularly to visit relatives. It was love at first sight for me. I fell in love with the ocean and everything about it. The smell, the colors, it all grabbed a hold of me and never let go. It wasn’t long after I graduated from Iowa State University with a B.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications that I did move to Florida. I do love it here and I don't miss the winters, but I will always consider the Midwest to be home.
I have been blessed with two amazing children. A boy and a girl. They could never deny each other as brother and sister, but I could also never deny how opposite they are. I am crazy about each of them for so many different reasons.
Part of my love for creative gift giving was instilled in me as a child. For as long as I can remember, my family has always put clues or hints on gift tags. Gifts had an extra dimension of fun when we were trying to outwit someone with a creative clue. I am now fortunate enough to be working with my artistic Mom. It’s since come out that my brothers had bets about how long the two of us could last in business with each other. I guess we win, Mom, and we didn’t even know we were betting….would have raised the stakes, huh?! Sea and Jae began after we became increasingly aware that people really struggle with giving gifts. Our premise is simple. We take well designed items, mix them with innovation and thoughtfulness, and give people tips and tricks for making the gift meaningful.
I’m drawn to a clever double meaning and anything visual. I believe in the details. Words, quotes, and typography intrigue and inspire me. I can’t explain why…maybe it’s a combination of the visual thing with the journalism thing.
That’s it…that’s me...a Midwest girl living in South Florida who likes the simple things in life to be beautiful and meaningful….the jae in sea and jae.
